How To Enable 3D Acceleration And 16:9 Resolution In VirtualBox

Virtual Box is a simple and reliable application platform for virtualization of operating systems. The main problems encountered when using are the default resolution of 4:3 which is not able to take full advantage of a 16:9 widescreen  and the non-compatibility with ’3D acceleration for most systems. There is a very simple way to optimize our virtualization experience by installing the appropriate drivers into the system so that it  interacts better with our hardware.

1) Start the Virtual machine which you wanted to get optimized, Let it be Linux or Windows the process is identical for all platforms.

2) Open the Devices menu and select “Install Guest Additions …”.

3 a) Now, if we already have the ability to install the Guest Additions, it will launch a configuration wizard in windows and terminal on the Linux, which automatically recognizes our hardware and install drivers for it best.

3b) If we do not immediately possible to install (this depends on the nature of our VBox installation) the program will prompt you to download the drivers from the official site of  Virtual Box an Iso image of the Guest Additions compatible with the current version of VBox. After downloading the installation it will be available for all our VMs as the third point.

When you restart the virtual machine it will be enabled with 3D acceleration support  and 16:9 resolution . If other drivers were missing, the process will automatically determine and install the drivers and makes the virtualization experience even more faithful and better integrated with our hardware. Here’s an instance:
